The grounds at Asphodel are integral to the Plantation's overall design. It was important to consider their restoration as a critical part of returning Asphodel to its original grandeur.
- The restoration of Asphodel's grounds was the last to be started. Efforts consisted of:
- New drought resistent sod was installed on all lawns surrounding the house.
- A dramatic new entry drive (inspired by Oak Alley Plantation) was created by planting two rows of new live oak trees. These trees are just a portion of the twenty-six new 15-foot high live oak trees that were planted around the house.
- A complete irrigation systems was installed for the lawns, gardens, and trees.
- The driveway was rerouted (requiring terracing and new roadbeds) to duplicate the original entrance to the house. This has made a major difference in recreating the dramatic approach as intended by the builders in 1822.
- A new gate with brick supporting pillars was installed at the entrance to the property.
- Underground water and electrical service was installed to all structures.
